Pakistani Students Donated Their Pocket Money for the Survivors of Van Earthquake

Students of PakTurk educational institutions and a group of Pakistani philanthropist businessmen collected an amount of Rs. 1.9 million (39,000 TL) to be sent for the survivors of the Van Earthquake. The delegation called on His Excellency Mr. M. Babür Hızlan, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in the Turkish Embassy. Voicing their concern and grief about the loss of lives and property, the PakTurk delegation prayed to Allah for the victims and wished early recovery for the injured and survivors. 

The delegation submitted Rs. 900,000 (18,000 TL) collected by the students from the 18 branches of PakTurk educational institutions across Pakistan as well as Rs. 1 million (21,000 TL) collected by the Pakistani businessmen and workers to His Excellency Mr. Hızlan to be conveyed to the Turkish Red Crescent for the benefit of the earthquake-affectees.

Ambassador Hızlan thanked the PakTurk students and the Pakistani businessmen for their altruistic gesture. Asserting the fact that Pakistan and Turkey stood by each other in rain or shine, Mr. Hızlan reiterated that the material and spiritual assistance given by the people of Pakistan mean so much for the people of Turkey.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ünal Toşur, Chairman PakTurk ICEF, said they were immensely moved to see PakTurk students, administrators, teachers and staff having mobilized from the very day of the Van earthquake for the benefit and bringing relief to the earthquake-affectees.

Toşur said, ''The nation of Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal has once again shown that they were standing by the people of Anatolia. People from all walks of life, be they were students, workers, businesspeople or philanthropists, got mobilized and collected amounts for relief and rehabilitation in the wake of the recent Van earthquake. We are ultimately glad to have been instrumental in conveying this meaningful assistance to dress the wounds of the earthquake survivors.''
At the end of their visit, the delegation submitted the bank vouchers for the donated amounts to His Excellency M. Babür Hızlan.
